First of all it was cold and early so I thought I'd read a blog before I got up.
Then I was like "whaaaaat? is this dude inside my head" Then I thought, maybe me and him are soul mates, there can't be more people who do this. Then I was all about what if this is true for all of us. Then it was all too much and I got up cos I was thinking about what the world would be like if we had compassion for these things when we saw them in others And then I thought we could show compassion when we see these things in ourselves. Crazy I know but let's try it. I'll go first. https://www.facebook.com/james.altucher/posts/10152891035180636:0

Just think of me as your exercise industry awards PT or group fitness instructor
you talk exercise, I talk entering When your client say exercising is too hard You say it's worth it When you say entering is too hard, I say it's worth it When your client says if I don't succeed everyone will laugh at me You say everyone supports your journey When you say if I don't succeed everyone will laugh at me I say everyone supports your journey When your client says I'm not the type of person to do this sort of thing You say give it a go, you might enjoy it When you say I'm not the type of person to do this sort of thing I say give it a go, you might enjoy it When your client says they'd be embarrassed if they aren't as good as the others You say that it's about reaching your personal goals, not everyone elses When you say you'll be embarrassed if you aren't as good as the others I say that it's about reaching your personal goals, not everyone elses And when your client does what you say and achieve something they didn't think they could You say I knew you could And when you do what I say and achieve something you didn't think you could I'll say I knew you could I guess what I am saying is that we can all be prone to feeling not good enough, thinking it's too hard, being scared of exposing ourself to others. Whether it's entering an award or starting an exercise programme. As exercise industry professionals everyday we expect our clients to step up. Let's show them we can too? http://www.exerciseindustryawards.co.nz There are a lot of people want change
There are fewer who know what that change could be There are even fewer who are willing to step up and make that change happen. The most people? They don't even know that change is needed. Do you think one day we will go from defining beauty,
past redefining beauty, to a place where beauty is not used as measure of someone's worth at all? Maybe we could find other measures to decide whether a person is worthwhile. Or perhaps we could just assume everyone is worthwhile without measuring them against a standard at all. How long do you wait for the applause?
How do you know that the work you are doing is good enough? When do you decide it's worth carrying on? Getting feedback from the roaring crowds feels amazing. Having people say you are the best is inspiring. Knowing that people are awaiting your next move is awesome. But as you prepare to take your bow. As you wait to hear the roar of the crowd. As you anticipate the gratitude and awe wash over you. Don't hold your breathe. If we are all standing back, waiting for our applause. Who is left to clap? Don't wait for things to get worse before realising how good you have it now.
Beware
In the pursuit of perfection In the search for the ultimate goal As you strive to be the best you can be That you don't miss out on some of the world's less perfect delights. Opportunities don't always come dressed as opportunities
with a name badge a list of outcomes or a guarantee Sometimes opportunities come dressed as a favour a request an exchange of pleasantries Sometimes opportunities come as your response to a negative situation or a deadline met or going the extra mile If opportunities are what you are after make sure you don't just look for the ones dressed as opportunities. You don't need to reach the top of the mountain every day.
Some days it's ok To take one step. And honestly, Some days it's ok if that one step isn't even in the right direction It's brilliant being your own boss.
You do what you want, when you want to, You make the rules and you can break them if you want them. The boss is always on your side. BUT the boss isn't going to call you out on any dumb ideas that are going to end up costing you money Your boss isn't going to be your cheerleader when you aren't sure you are on the right track. You can't tell your boss to stick it and walk out of the business without any notice if they are a complete moron. It's not always brilliant being your own boss. |
